Matminne is operated by Daniel Stenblad ("we", "us"). We care about your privacy. This policy describes what personal data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.
What data we collect
- Account information — email address and name when you register
- Profile data — height, date of birth, gender, dietary preferences, allergies, activity level, and nutrition goals you set
- User-created content — recipes, meal plans, grocery lists, pantry items, and inventory data
- Household data — names, date of birth, and dietary profiles for household members and persons you add. Date of birth is used for birthday reminders and age-appropriate meal suggestions
- Health and body data — weight, body measurements, food intake logs, and nutrition tracking (special category data under GDPR Art. 9, processed with your explicit consent)
- Workout data — exercise sessions, training templates, workout plans, and personal records
- Technical data — device type, operating system, and app version for troubleshooting
How we use your data
- Provide and improve the service — your data powers the app's features
- Personalization — recipe and meal suggestions based on your preferences
- Communication — service messages and updates you've opted into
- Troubleshooting — technical data is used to identify and fix issues
Storage and security
Your data is stored on servers in Sweden (EU). We use encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Passwords are hashed with PBKDF2-SHA256. We never sell your personal data to third parties.
Third-party sharing
We do not share your personal data with third parties, except:
- Hosting providers that process data on our behalf (data processors)
- AI service providers (OpenAI, Anthropic) — when you scan food with the camera, the image is sent to an AI service for nutritional analysis. Images are stripped of metadata (GPS, timestamps) before being sent. No personal information is linked to the image.
- When required by law or government order
Your rights (GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:
- Request access to your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and all data — available directly in Settings > Account > Delete Account
- Export your data in JSON format — available directly in Settings > Account > Download My Data
- Object to certain processing of your data
- Withdraw consent for health data processing at any time — available in the Body Measurements section
Cookies
Matminne only uses technically necessary cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
Children and dependents
Matminne is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The "dependents" feature allows parents to record their children's names, birth years, dietary preferences, and allergies for household meal planning. This data is processed on behalf of the parent and the child never interacts with the service directly.
Changes
We may update this policy. For significant changes, we will notify you via the app or email.
